Hakkasan Abu Dhabi launches limited-edition Lunar New Year menu

Welcome in the year of the tiger with these special dishes

Looking for a lush way to ring in the Lunar New Year in Abu Dhabi?

Hakkasan Abu Dhabi is celebrating the Year of the Tiger in style with a limited-edition menu featuring dishes specially created for the occasion, including a tiger-inspired mixed drink.

Chinese New Year is on Tuesday February 1, but we’ll have longer to enjoy the Lunar New Year menu at Hakkasan. Head to the Cantonese restaurant at Emirates Palace from Monday January 31 to Sunday February 13 from 6pm and 11.30pm to sample the Year of the Tiger menu. The menu costs Dhs488 per person with a minimum of two guests to share.

The meal starts with fresh yu sheng salad with house-cured salmon and plum dressing served with a trio of xingfu (“happy”) dim sum: a baked truffle duck puff, tiger prawn dumpling and wild mushroom puff. Main dishes include the baked corn-fed chicken with chestnut morel mushroom and angelica root, plus, wok-fried sea bass with enoki mushroom and spicy sesame soy. Finish the New Year’s feast with a gold tiger-striped orange dark chocolate firecracker and Mandarin sorbet.

Wondering what to sip? The King of Fujian mixed drink is inspired by the Chinese tiger’s original habitat in the Fujian province. The drink includes passion fruit, lychee and basil leaves with edible gold leaf and a playful tiger print.

During the Lunar New Year celebrations at Hakkasan, you’ll see wishing ribbons hung throughout the restaurant for luck (not that you need much more of it when you’re already eating at Hakkasan). Happy New Year.

Dhs488 (per person). Mon Jan 31- Sun Feb 13, 6pm-11.30pm. Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi Corniche hakkasan@emiratespalace.ae (02 690 7739).
