See the Rooftop Rhythms 10th anniversary at Louvre Abu Dhabi

The theme of the night is mental wellness

Calling all poetry buffs, music lovers and culture vultures. Abu Dhabi’s longest-running poetry open mic night, Rooftop Rhythms, is back in person for the first time since it went online in early 2020. We couldn’t be more excited.

Head to Louvre Abu Dhabi on November 17 for the 10th anniversary event, themed as the wellness edition. The night will spotlight established poets, musicians, DJ’s and singers in a one of a kind evening that focuses on mental wellness.

Rooftop Rhythms founder, Dorian Paul Rogers, will emcee the anniversary Rooftop Rhythms event, while DJ Jaysus Zain will provide soulful grooves. You don’t need a ticket, and admission is free for Louvre Abu Dhabi’s LATES attendees. The event is open to everyone on a first-come, first-serve basis. It starts at 7pm and seats are limited so be sure to get there early.

Rooftop Rhythms is also launching Rooftop Junior, a safe space for teens and youth to take their first steps towards becoming performers. Presented with the support of the US Mission to the UAE, participants will receive two tutorials created by Dorian Paul Rogers. The first tutorial is an introduction to the poetry writing process, while the second focuses on the performance of their work. The programme is suitable for artists aged 12 to 18.

Commenting on the anniversary event, Rogers said: “For 10 years, Abu Dhabi’s longest-running poetry open mic night has been committed to providing a platform for locally-based artists to share their original creative work – often on stage for the first time. A supportive community has developed around the event which has helped artists to develop their craft in poetry, spoken word, and music across languages. We are proud to be a part of helping to grow this thriving scene.”

We can’t wait to see what these artists come up with.

Free (with LATE access ticket). Nov 17, 7pm. Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island, www.louvreabudhabi.ae/.
