UAE Ramadan 2022 confirmed to start on Saturday April 2

Ramadan is expected to last for 30 days

Ramadan will begin on Saturday April 2, 2022.

The moon-sighting committee met at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) and confirmed the presence of the crescent moon, according to WAM.

Previously, the Emirates Astronomy Society confirmed that April 2 will be the first day of Ramadan 2022. Eid Al Fitr and the first of Shawwal will be on Thursday May 2. Ramadan is expected to last for 30 days.

The city of Khor Fakkan in Sharjah will precede Abu Dhabi by about eight minutes for the start of fasting and breakfast while in Al Ghuwaifat and Al Sila, fasting and breakfast will begin approximately 12 minutes later than the capital. The dawn call to prayer in Khor Fakkan will begin at 04.48am, while in Abu Dhabi it will start at 4.56am, and in Ghuwaifat it will be 5.08am.

UAE residents have been eagerly waiting to find out when Ramadan 2022 will begin. Earlier the United Arab Emirates announced the Ramadan working hours for the public sector with UAE government employees working from Monday to Thursday from 9am until 2.30pm and from 9am until noon on Fridays.

The UAE then announced Ramadan working hours for the private sector with employees in the private sector due to have their working days reduced by two hours during Ramadan.

Iftar tents have been allowed to return for Ramadan 2022: the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. The iftar tent regulations include having participants socially distanced by at least one metre apart and having iftar tents open two hours before the time of iftar (Maghrib call to prayer) to reduce crowding. There will also be security guards and/or volunteers to manage the flow of people at iftar tent entrances and exits.
