The UAE has announced the 2022 Ramadan working hours for federal government employees.
It was announced by the authorities that the Ramadan working hours for public sector employees will be Monday to Thursday from 9am until 2.30pm and from 9am until noon on Fridays.
Government employees will have flexible and remote work options on Friday, pending certain criteria. According to WAM, federal departments will be able to offer flexible working on Fridays for up to 40 percent of the total number of employees.
Additionally, the federal government weekly work system will prioritise employees that live far from their workplaces, as well as those that have specific conditions that make it hard for them to travel.
This is the first Ramadan since the United Arab Emirates transitioned to a new working week at the start of 2022, where Saturdays and Sundays becoming the new weekend.

Ramadan 2022 is expected to start on Saturday April 2, but the final date has yet to be confirmed. The final date will be determined by the sighting of the crescent moon.
Similarly, Eid Al Fitr 2022 is expected to fall on Sunday May 1, depending on which night the new crescent moon is sighted. Eid marks the end of Ramadan.
