5 tastiest dishes in Abu Dhabi in February 2021

Fried chicken, lobster springs rolls and more – the best things we’ve eaten this month

Here at Time Out Abu Dhabi, food is never far from our minds. And if you, like us, love to plan our meals in advance, then we’re here to help you out.

Lobster spring rolls? You’ve got it. Traditional biryani? Dig in. We’ve been out and about in the capital this month to find the tastiest dishes in town. And here are our top five for February.

We review all restaurants anonymously and pay for our meals, so you know we’re telling the truth, too.

Ready to get stuck in? Of course you are. Bon appétit.

Charred and crushed avocado at The Garden by Bay View

Breakfast, burgers, burritos, avocados are everywhere, often playing a supporting cast role to main dishes. However, the large berry takes centre stage at The Garden by Bay View. Charred and crushed with tomato and red onion, the avocado is joined by an artisan garlic baguette, where diners can lash on as much of the green goodness as they please. We’re ready to ‘avo some more already.

Fried chicken at Butcher and Still

There’s a fine balance to be struck between sweet and savoury, one that isn’t easy to master. At Butcher and Still’s The Meat People brunch, they’ve nailed it. The fried chicken is picture-perfect and crisper than a winter’s day in Alaska, with a perfectly golden coating around the super-juicy chicken. What’s more, it’s served on top of a pancake and is drenched in syrup, hitting sweet and savoury notes in perfect harmony.
Served as part of brunch. Four Seasons Abu Dhabi.

Hash brown Benedict at No. Fifty Seven Boutique Café

What’s not to love about crispy potato? The hash brown Benedict at No 57 is a breakfast boss, with two big hash browns topped with spinach, smoked salmon, the perfect poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, it’s no yolk (although you might end up with some on your top if you’re not careful). This one keeps us coming back time and again. We’ll see you there on Saturday.

Lobster Spring Rolls at W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island

Bid farewell to any greasy, limp cabbage-stuffed springer. This is a spring roll, but extra. At the Garage brunch the lobster spring rolls are still small in size (one bite if you’re greedy) but are packed with tasty lobster, coated in a thin, crispy shell. Give them a dunk in the soy and chilli and sauce and you’ve got yourself a snack you could eat 20 of if you aren’t careful. (But who’s careful when it comes to counting spring rolls?)

Special mutton biryani at Ritaj

On the hunt for something different, we are taking a detour from the well beaten food path to the unassuming kitchen of Ritaj. It’s all about Indian and Hyderbadi cuisine and the special mutton biryani is king. Huge tender chunks of mutton snuggling below mounds and mounds of rice, ready to blast mouths full of flavor and a lot of spice is as good as it sounds. Just make sure there is a bed nearby for a nap after taking on this challenge.
