Joud Cafe

A new pretty cafe in Al Seef Village Mall

Joud Cafe
Joud Cafe

This recently opened café ticks all the boxes when it comes to presentation, with cute ornaments, colourful cushions and strategically placed coffee-table books covering the light and airy cafe.

The menu is huge too, and it takes us a while to digest the long lists of breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, pastas and mains. With competition like Sanderson’s and Raw by Nolu’s located just metres away, the venue clearly knows it needs to offer a lot.

Service is very slow however, and we are already tucking into our jerk chicken with coconut rice and spicy Moroccan bowl before our smoothies arrive. There are a lot of staff working and only a few customers, so it seems there must be a few teething problems.

But the drinks taste and look lovely, and thankfully worth the wait.

Both dishes are exceptionally pretty too. The braised beef in the Moroccan bowl is superb, and it’s layered on a mound of light couscous with carrots, chickpeas, avocado and orange wedges. We’re not sure whether having fruit in it really works, but it’s generally super tasty, fresh and healthy.

Meanwhile, we’re crushed to find that the coconut rice we were looking forward to is just plain rice, but the staff are quick to rectify it. Our new serving is sweet, creamy and delicious, and it’s joined by spicy chicken, black beans, pineapple relish and more vibrant fresh vegetables.

Once the finer details are perfected it will be excellent.
