When it comes to classic French food in the capital, there’s only really one place to go. A world-famous name, this chic brand is a shining star in Abu Dhabi when it comes to brilliant food, expertly done – with a dash of ooh la la about the whole occasion.
Set out on Al Maryah Island is LPM Restaurant & Bar. And this is absolutely a fine-dining restaurant. Casual is not in the staff handbook. Expect pristine tablecloths, elegantly dressed staff and the gentle clink of cutlery as you eat. There’s no point denying it, this is an expensive place to eat. And you know what, we don’t mind. You get what you pay for, after all.
But staff never miss a beat for the entire meal and you’ll feel like your hard-earneds are being justified here. And if you visit at lunchtime you’ll bag yourself a business lunch deal that’ll have you sprinting from the office.
When it comes to food, the menu is filled with Niçoise specialities, meaning you get Mediterranean classics inspired by France and Italy. Dishes are designed to share ao you can push the boat out or rein it in. It can get pricey, but everything you eat will be superb.
If you want to keep things light, don’t miss the salt cod croquettes and sea bass carpaccio to start, and gnocchi or the morel and asparagus risotto for mains. Every mouthful of every dish will be something to a savour. The tender lamb cutlets are a winner, likewise the gigantic, meaty prawns.
