Namak

Interesting flavours and presentation from a big name in Indian cooking

There’s almost nothing about Indian cuisine that we don’t love. The vibrant flavours, the amazing spice combinations and the wide variety of regional cuisines has us hooked. Feed us great Indian food morning, noon and night and you won’t hear a complaint from us.

The capital has its fair share of high-end Indian restaurants and with Namak there is yet another spot to love.

After scoffing a dabeli (compliments of the chef, thank you very much), you’ll be more than ready for what’s next.

The katifi prawns are excellent – plump and beautifully wrapped in crisp pastry. They are simply a must-have. The charred paneer is no slouch either.

Chicken tikka masala, bubbling as it arrives is a sweet-yet-spicy mix that goes down a treat with fragrant saffron rice.

But the star of the show, falling off the bone after being cooked slowly all day, is the nalli korma lamb shank. It’s so good you’ll want to high five the chef.

And there are many places in the capital who can rustle up a brilliant biryani and we are firmly adding Namak’s name to that list. The dum ki nalli (or lamb biryani) is jam-packed with melt-off-the-bone lamb meat and buried in a mountain of saffron rice, bursting with traditional herbs and spices with a few cheeky raisins thrown in to boot.

Namak is the real deal. No complaints at all from us.
