Raclette Brasserie & Café

Plump for this fancy French fare at Mamsha Al Saadiyat

Fancy Parisian vibes – meet breathtaking ocean views. If you’re looking to feel more than a little bit bougie, you can’t go wrong by heading to Raclette Brasserie & Café at Mamsha Al Saadiyat. This fine French restaurant has oozed across our feeds (much like the giant wheels of cheese the spot is known for) and we’re here to see whether it meets the hype.

Visually, Raclette is yet another jewel in the new area’s crown. There’s a beautiful outdoor terrace and glamorous inside area to choose from. Inside is all glittery accessories, warm lighting, and a ceiling covered in lush vegetation. The spot has also been known to invite string instrument musicians to perform inside. In short, you feel like you’re somewhere special when you step into Raclette – we’d recommend dressing up if you’re making the trip.

If you arrive hungry, be prepared for a bit of a wait. The service is somewhat leisurely, and the massive menu means choosing your dishes can take a bit of time.

Bruschetta, with tomato, basil and roasted aubergine in garlic dressing is light, crisp and fresh, making it the perfect start to the meal, while the addition of burrata lends a touch of decadence.

Grilled jumbo prawns come in a garlic sauce with lemon and olive oil, alongside rocket leaves and parmesan flakes. At Dhs129, it feels a touch steeply priced for the plate before us.

Oven-roasted baby chicken, served with a side of ratatouille, is well cooked, but not memorable.

Raclette rallies on the dessert front. Its “tour de profiterole” is a showstopper, all warm choux pastry, cream, hot chocolate drizzle and candy floss.

With such a huge menu, we’re sure there are dishes at Raclette Brasserie & Café that far outperform the ones we chose on this particular visit. There’s no doubting the restaurant has potential.
