There’s nothing like a lazy weekend breakfast, away from the crowd, and far from the chaos of the work week. The next time you’re looking for something to scratch this particular itch, drive out to this cosy café on Al Raha Beach.
A strict no-gluten policy has helped the team create a taste that distinguishes itself from the pack. It features the usual café spread, plus a display counter of decadent desserts.
The eggs Benedict, from the all-day breakfast menu, can be ordered with sides of spinach, smoked turkey ham or salmon. Two poached eggs – done to your liking – are hidden under a couple of spoons of rich béarnaise sauce. Its acidic zing helps to cut through the richness of the egg. The toasted English muffins (gluten-free, of course), have a crispy, toasted edge, and a soft centre, perfect for mopping up the yolks.
The French toast is another favourite and we can see why. A portion offers two golden-brown, but surprisingly light batons of bread, with a tart mixed berry compote. The staff at Tawa are friendly and very attentive, brightening up your morning.
