While many of the city’s steakhouses are found Downtown (such as The Foundry, Butcher & Still and the like), The Grill is perfectly located to cater to those of us who live in Khalifa City or the off-island areas.
It’s a high-end dining experience, though the classy venue is very quiet when we enter for a summer evening meal.
The staff are chatty, very helpful, and more than happy to give recommendations on what we should eat.
We start with The Grill salad, which is brought out on its own trolley and made infront of us. Featuring mixed leaves, walnuts, cheese, sweet cherry tomatoes, and an utterly gorgeous pomegranate dressing, it’s fresh, satisfying without being too filling, and totally our kind of starter. The seafood chowder has less wow factor and seems more of a bisque than a chowder, but we’re rather pleased that it isn’t too creamy or rich.
For mains, we obviously have to go for a rib-eye steak, and the piece of meat is absolutely beautiful. We also get an enormous portion of creamy spinach (it’s so good but too big to possibly finish) and a classic pepper sauce which finishes the dish off nicely.
Meanwhile, the peri-peri chicken is certainly on the fiery side, but we’re a fan of spice, and the meat is succulent and tasty. It comes served with a delicate arrangement of steamed vegetables and polenta chips.
The food is great and the venue is super. We’ll be back.
