Where you can go cycling in Abu Dhabi

From road racing at Al Wathba to steady paddles on the Corniche

Cycling is a great way to both stay fit and explore Abu Dhabi.

With cars being the main source of transport here in Abu Dhabi, we don’t always get to experience the capital’s charm during our commutes. That’s why jumping on a bike and pedalling through the city is an excellent for those who, like us, enjoy soaking up beautiful scenery whilst getting in their cardio.

The capital is full of incredible landmarks and tranquil nature meaning there are many places to take your bike for a ride, whether you’re after an adventures thrill on the Yas Marina Circuit or prefer peaceful pedal by the beach.

Plus, with the government’s new cycling tracks almost complete, Abu Dhabi is set to become even more bike-friendly.

In the meantime, here’s where to go cycling in Abu Dhabi. Saddle up!

Cycle with a view at Al Hudayriat Island

You’ve probably taken the drive over the bridge (which is impressive in itself) to Hudayriat Island before for a weekend sunbathing session, but did you also know that you can hire bikes here? Yas Cycles has bikes available for Dhs50 an hour and the dedication bike tracks loop the island and take in magnificent views of Etihad Towers, the bright blue Gulf and the Downtown skyline.
Free. Open daily 8am-7pm. Hudayriat Island.

Pedal to medals on the Yas Marina Circuit

Formula One cars hit speeds of more than 330 kph so it is a relief they aren’t allowed on the track during sessions. Instead, cyclists are the speedsters as they zip past joggers down on the surface of one of the world’s great sports venues.
Free. Sun and Tue, 5-10pm. Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Central, Abu Dhabi, www.yasmarinacircuit.com.

Road races at Al Wathba

Surrounded by dunes on all sides and with multiple routes this track is a dream for families and emerging triathletes alike. The road is reserved for cyclists making it a safer place.
Free. Daily. 24 hours. Al Wathba Cycle Track, Abu Dhabi.

Go steady on the Abu Dhabi Corniche

Riding a bike doesn’t have to be about thrills, adventure or workouts. If you just want a simple ride along, some grade-A people-watching and a break for karak, then there is no better spot than Abu Dhabi’s corniche.
Free. Daily. 24 hours.
