Jebel Hafeet third most snapped road trip in the world

Some 4,840 photos are taken per mile

Ready to up your game when it comes to road trips in the UAE? Well there’s good news in store because on Abu Dhabi’s doorstep is one of the most beautiful road trips on the planet.

With a spectacular climb of 1,240 metres (the UAE’s highest point) through rocky limestone that has formed over millions of years old, road trippers are greeted with stunning views of the desert and even Oman (on a clear day).

And according to Instagram data, the Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road is the third most popular road trip in the world on which to get a snap, with some 4,840 pictures taken per mile.

The research carried out by Pentagon Motor Group analysed more than seven million hashtags associated with road roamings and revealed the journey to the mountain on the outskirts on the city of Al Ain received more instalove than the likes of Blue Ridge Parkway and Route 66 in the USA, Chapman’s Peak Drive in South Africa and Hai Van Pass in Vietnam.

Providing opportunities to visit ancient tombs, discover the regions varied wildlife as well as a dip in the hot water springs of the Green Mubazzarah, the only UAE road galavant to make it into the top 20, came in behind the Great Ocean Road in Australia and Big Sur in California who clocked up 8,418 and 5,226 pics per mile on the social media site respectively.
