Abu Dhabi authorities update passenger arrival rules

Additional rounds of testing brought in at AUH airport

Changes have been made to international travel protocol to beef up COVID-19 precautions in the capital, authorities have announced.

Vaccinated citizens and residents touching down in Abu Dhabi from green list-approved countries will need to take a PCR test on arrival and complete another test five days later, but will not need to quarantine.

It represents a slight change from the former process, with an additional test on day six of any stay added in under the fresh guidelines from the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee.

Meanwhile, vaccinated travellers arriving from any other country will be obligated to take a PCR test on arrival, quarantine for five days, and then take a second test on day four.

The measures apply to all vaccinated UAE citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi, in addition to non-vaccinated citizens and residents arriving from the 23 green list countries. They won’t need to quarantine, but will need to complete additional tests on days six and 12.

Non-vaccinated passengers arriving from other countries around the world must take a PCR test on arrival, quarantine for ten days and take another PCR test on day eight.

The changes come into effect on Monday May 3.

Countries on Abu Dhabi’s green list include the likes of Australia, Japan and Portugal. For a full list of approve countries, click here.
