First Look: Kamoon reopens in Abu Dhabi

Levantine food and views of the Arabian Gulf

Looking for a brilliant foodie experience in the capital? Kamoon is reopening in Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan with a whole new look, al fresco dining and new dishes we can’t wait to tuck into.

Kamoon’s reimagined menu pays homage to the Levant with cold mezzah, hot mezzah, meaty plates from the charcoal grill, and fresh fish dishes. There’s a larger seating capacity and new décor to take in, too.

The newly reopened spot is located in Al Bateen at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, with views of the Arabian Sea. You’ll also find live entertainment, including an oud player, from Tuesday to Saturday. Looking to take advantage of this beautiful winter weather? Dine al fresco and take in views of the sea while you sup to your heart’s content.

We’ve all tried hummus with pine nuts, but have you tried chocolate hummus? The rainbow hummus at Kamoon comes with a trio of hummus dishes: pumpkin, beetroot and dark chocolate. A bold move.

The musakhan rolls come with deep-fried dough, shredded chicken and sumac yoghurt sauce. Yum. You can also get a sojouk roll with deep-fried dough and sojouk, and cheese rakakat stuffed with mint and cheese.

Up for a challenge? We have our eyes on the metre-long kebabs. You can choose between the Turkish adana kebab with marinated minced lamb, onion, garlic and Turkish spices, or the Lebanese kafta with marinated minced lamb, onion, crushed red capsicum, parsley and Arabic spices.

Open Sun-Thu noon-midnight; Fri-Sat noon-1am. Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, Corniche Road, Al Bateen (02 657 0000).
