The 99 Sushi fuyu tasting menu has a whopping 11 courses

Love sushi? 99 Sushi at The Galleria Al Maryah Island has a new tasting menu with a mega 11 courses to try.

The new menu features some of 99 Sushi’s signatures along with new flavours and a sweet finish (we’ll get to that in a minute).

The 99 Sushi fuyu tasting menu is named for the word winter in Japanese, with “fuyu” evoking images of Mount Fuji under a thick coat of white snow. Sounds lush, no?

The 99 Sushi fuyu menu features popular dishes. The Atlantic bluefin tuna is the star of the show and you’ll find it in hosomaki rolls, paired with ch-toro with leek, spicy tuna tartar, wakame seaweed and shoestring chips in kimuchi sauce, toro tataki, passion-fruit and soy reduction.

Regular favourites also include the Temptsuyu maki and grilled foie nigiri with raspberry and tare sauce. You’ll also get to sample the urchin tempura served in a special glass with a delicate sauce of egg yolk, soy, lemon and butter.

There are brand new dishes to try, too, such as the A5 Queen Nigiri made with Japanese Kobe A5 beef and the unagi kabayaki roll with flambéed eel, avocado and tobiko. Finally, for dessert you’ll get the 99 yuzu cheesecake with kunafa ice cream.

The 99 Sushi fuyu tasting menu costs Dhs899 per couple for the food, Dhs1,499 per couple with a bottle of French bubbly, and Dhs3,499 per couple with a bottle of premium bubbly. If your partner loves sushi, this could be the perfect date night idea.
