COVID-19 PCR Test

Abu Dhabi lowers price of COVID PCR tests

The change is effective from Tuesday March 1

Abu Dhabi is lowering the price of PCR tests. From Tuesday March 1, the cost of a PCR test in Abu Dhabi will be set at Dhs40.

The standard cost of a regular COVID-19 PCR test in Abu Dhabi was previously capped at Dhs50. The new Abu Dhabi PCR test price change was announced by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi requires green pass status on the Al Hosn app to enter many public places in the capital. You need to be fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR test every 14 days to maintain green status.

The change in price for PCR tests in Abu Dhabi comes along with a wave of other recent UAE COVID-19 updates.

The United Arab Emirates has eased many COVID-19 restrictions, including to mandatory face masks in public places, from Saturday February 26. Face masks are no longer mandatory in outdoor areas, but you must wear them inside and physical distancing must still be observed.

Other restrictions are also being lifted, including for close contacts, places of worship and events. If you have a close contact case, you do not need to undergo mandatory quarantine, instead you must take PCR tests daily for a period of five days. For new COVID-19 cases, wristbands will no longer be used during home quarantine.

Restaurants and other eateries are now operating at 100 percent capacity along with football stadiums and cinemas. Events and attractions can now operate at 90 percent capacity, too.

From Tue Mar 1.
