Abu Dhabi supermarkets and pharmacies must stay open until at least midnight

New rules announced for shopping

New rules have been announced for all shops in Abu Dhabi by The Department of Economic Development.

All supermarkets, co-operative societies, grocery stores and pharmacies must stay open until at least midnight and are permitted to remain open for 24 hours.

All stores will not be permitted to exceed 30 percent capacity at one time and the idea is that the extended opening hours will help with social distancing and to prevent crowding.

The Department of Economic Development recently announced that community event spaces in the capital are set to be converted into temporary stores where the public can buy food and consumer goods.

The new measures aim to reduce the number of people crowding in supermarkets and provide more options for the public to get essential items.
