Abu Dhabi’s hotels, restaurants, lounges and more could reopen in the coming weeks.
All of the above had previously been closed to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
This comes after Abu Dhabi’s malls and shopping centres began taking measures to reopen.
The Department of Culture and Tourism has issued a circular stating the requirements and standards expected before establishments can reopen to the public.
The reopening is in line with national efforts to “sustain and support the tourism industry and national economic development”.
Each venue will be required to sterilise and clean all facilities, provide separate entrance and exit points, install sterilisation equipment for guests, everyone will be required to wear masks at all times and are expected to use contactless payment where possible.
In addition, maximum capacity of 30 percent will be allowed at any one time, valet services will not be available for guests and entertainment activities will not be permitted.
Social distancing must be upheld at all times with tables restricted to four people each with a 2.5 metre distance between tables.
All employees must have COVID-19 testing bi-weekly, wear protective clothing and masks and perform temperature checks regularly.
Signage must be displayed, ensuring social distancing is adhered to and all venues will be subject to ongoing inspections.
Each venue will announce opening hours and dates once permission has been granted and all checks and balances have been achieved to ensure public safety before visiting.
