Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall and Al Jimi Mall set to reopen on May 2

Aldar malls prepare to reopen

Aldar Properties has announced that a number of malls are set to reopen to the public.

Yas Mall and Al Jimi Mall are set to reopen on May 2 after successfully fulfilling all precautionary measures set by the Department of Economic Development.

Opening hours for the two malls on Yas Island and in Al Ain will be noon to 9pm, except for supermarkets and pharmacies that will open from 9am to midnight.

A number of other Aldar Properties malls are also on standby to reopen in the coming days including World Trade Center Abu Dhabi, Shams Boutik and Remal Mall, but exact opening dates have not been announced.

Last week a series of guidelines were issued to malls and shopping destinations in the city outlining the necessary safety requirements to prepare for reopening to the public.

Malls in Abu Dhabi can reopen once they meet some stringent health and safety guidelines. Once open they will be inspected regularly.

Among the new regulations for the reopening of malls include, a maximum capacity of 30 percent, the installation of thermal inspection devices, separate entrances and exits and more.

In addition, all shoppers are only permitted to visit for a maximum of two hours, must abide by social distancing rules, wear protective masks and are advised to use contactless payment where possible and bring reusable bags.

All mall staff are also required to be tested for COVID-19 and must wear masks and gloves at all times.
