All Abu Dhabi taxis to accept contactless payment

Pay with your phone or card on the go

Taxis in Abu Dhabi have undertaken a number of measures to protect public safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Last week, the Integrated Transport Center announced that all Abu Dhabi taxis would have plastic isolators installed in cars that keep drivers and passengers separated through a transparent plastic sheet.

Now, the ITC has announced that all cars will have credit card machines so that people can use contactless payment to pay for the ride to avoid the exchange of dirham notes.

Contactless payment was previously launched for Abu Dhabi Airport taxis but will now be available across the fleet.

Abu Dhabi residents are still being asked to stay home where possible but are permitted to leave the house to get essential like food and medicine.

The National Sterilisation Programe also continues each day from 10pm to 6am where all residents are required to stay at home except for emergencies.
