In a new initiative instructed by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), all major grocery stores in the capital must allocate space for local produce.
The launch is an active effort by both Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed and ADAFSA to emphasise the importance of the UAE’s local produce in meeting the needs of the market.

All shops, supermarkets and co-ops in the city will now be legally required to include a display of local agri-products within their stock to allow producers across the UAE to have a place to market their makings instead of relying on outside sources.
Commenting on the news, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, said: “We support anything that facilitates, motivates and provides security.”
