See a sweet Cake and Sprinkles pop-up at Cultural Foundation

Food, arcade games and a stellar art exhibition

If you’re after a bit of culture in the capital, you’re in luck. Cultural Foundation is hosting a new pop-up café, Cake and Sprinkles, and it looks super sweet.

The pop-up is inspired by US-based Emirati artist Farah Al Qasimi’s exhibition, General Behaviour, which is currently on display at the Cultural Foundation.

You’ll find the Cake and Sprinkles pop-up on the first floor, where it’s serving a dessert menu of cakes, coffees and ice creams. The pop-up is open until Wednesday August 31, so there’s plenty of time to satisfy your sweet tooth.

The pop-up promises to be Insta-worthy and features artworks curated by 25 UAE-based artists to showcase their interpretation of their love for sweets. There are interactive fun zones to explore too, including an arcade.

While you’re there, be sure to check out General Behaviour, too. The exhibition is a multimedia experience that explores the layers of multiculturalism and consumer culture in the UAE through photographic and video-based work developed between 2012 and 2021. Sounds pretty neat.

The Cultural Foundation has been around since 1981 and has a mega programme of art exhibitions, educational installations, performing arts, workshops, classes and the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library.

After some more Insta-worthy art? teamLab Phenomena has an art pop-up at Mamsha Al Saadiyat with two interactive exhibitions that you’re going to want on your feed. It’s open until Sunday July 17 and is free to enter.

With so much art to see this summer it seems like life is pretty sweet.

Until Wed Aug 31. Cultural Foundation, Al Hisn, visitabudhabi.ae (02 657 6348).
