Abu Dhabi Airport introduces contactless elevators to improve passenger safety

More than 50 lifts now have the technology

Abu Dhabi is used to embracing modern solutions and pioneering new technologies.

In a world’s first, Abu Dhabi Airport has introduced touchless technology in the airport to help improve passenger health and safety.

Partnering with Meta Touch, all 53 elevators in the airport now have contactless operating keypads.

The technology allows users to control the elevator without making physical contact and pressing buttons.

“The installation of the new technology across our elevators at Abu Dhabi International Airport is a significant development in ensuring the safety of all our guests and travelers,” said Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports.

“This innovative technology bolsters the extensive safety measures our company has implemented as a regional leader in the airports sector.

“We are constantly introducing new solutions at Abu Dhabi International Airport to contain the spread of COVID-19 and deliver a safe, smooth and seamless travel experience for all our customers.”

Abu Dhabi Airport recently released guidelines for all passengers travelling through the transport hub to help improve safety and reduce waiting times.

In addition, those flying from Abu Dhabi Airport are exempt from the travel restrictions currently in place in Abu Dhabi.
