UAE residents in the COVID-19 vaccine trials do not need to quarantine in Abu Dhabi

New rules for participants in the COVID-19 vaccine trials

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has announced new regulations for those participating in the COVID-19 vaccine trials in the UAE.

Individuals participating the phase three of the clinical trials of the vaccine, or in the National Vaccination Programme, are not required to quarantine in Abu Dhabi when travelling back from overseas.

PCR tests are required however when arriving in the UAE internationally and those participating in the National Vaccination Programme will be required to take a second test on the fourth day and a third test on the eighth day of entry into the emirate.

Additionally, when arriving in Abu Dhabi from other emirates participants in both the vaccination programme and clinical trials do not require a PCR test.
The new measures apply from the first dose in phase three of the clinical trials and from 28 days after the second dose for the National Vaccination Programme.

Participants in both are required to take fortnightly PCR tests.

For all other residents not participating in the trials a PCR test is still required to enter Abu Dhabi as well as test on the fourth and eighth days of an individual’s stay in the emirate.

When arriving from overseas, residents not participating in the trial are required to quarantine with a wristband for 14 days, taking a PCR test on the 12th day to have the wristband removed.
