Abu Dhabi schools to resume remote learning for two weeks at the start of 2021

Schools can offer remote learning at the start of term

Abu Dhabi schools are to continue remote learning for the first two weeks of term in 2021.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, in coordination with Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, have announced that remote learning can continue for the first two weeks of the new school term.

The new school term is scheduled to begin on 3 January 2021.

The announcement applies to all students and teachers at all public and private schools in the emirate.

The decision was made to ‘protect the health and safety of students, teachers and school staff’.

In addition, the committee also confirmed that all students, teachers and school staff returning to the UAE from international travel through any of the country’s airports or ports must adhere to quarantine measures implemented in Abu Dhabi emirate.

Currently, quarantine is ten days in Abu Dhabi except for passengers arriving from ‘green list’ countries listed on the Visit Abu Dhabi website.

Green list countries that do not have to quarantine currently include Australia, Brunei, China, Greece, Greenland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mauritius, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

The green list will be updated fortnightly.
