UAE approves three new COVID-19 testing procedures in Abu Dhabi

Tests can be used in emergency and primary care centres

The Department of Health has approved three new COVID-19 diagnostic tests.

Tests have been approved for use in ER departments and urgent care centres in Abu Dhabi.

Providing faster results, the new tests are based on the ‘latest global scientific developments’ and will help support physicians to provide better patient care.

The raft of new procedures comprises a nasal swab antigen test that delivers results in 20 minutes, an RT-lamp test nasal swab that delivers results within an hour and saliva tests which can be used for children who do not get nasal swabs.

PCR nasal swab tests and DPI laser tests are still available to the public across the emirate.

Abu Dhabi has launched the Choose to Vaccinate campaign, with vaccination centres open across the emirate.

The vaccine is now available at more than 100 locations and people over the age of 16 are now able to receive it.
