Boost for UAE tourism with launch of Emirates Tourism Council

Leadership seeking to bolster infrastructure around sector

UAE leadership has moved to bolster the infrastructure surrounding tourism by rubberstamping proposals for a dedicated Emirates Tourism Council.

The new body will be responsible for putting together a strategy to attract even more holidaymakers to the UAE, as well as boosting what’s on offer for tourists when they touchdown.

And that means plenty to get excited about for locals as the UAE continues to open its doors in 2021.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the other emirates, are popular destinations with holidaymakers from around the world year on year.

With iconic skylines, year-round sunshine, and a rich cultural offering, it is clear to see why the UAE is always a top spot to hit up for a vacation.

Expo 2020 Dubai alone – kicking off in October – is expecting more than 25million guests over the six-month run of the show, many of them arrivals from overseas.

Approval for the council was signed off at the first UAE Cabinet meeting of the year, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Members include the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing-Dubai, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Ajman Tourism Development Department, the Umm Al Qaiwain Department of Tourism and Archaeology, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and the Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority.
