Vegan brunch at Market at EDITION

Abu Dhabi’s first-ever vegan brunch could be a trend-setter

Looking for a brunch that’s as healthy as it is delicious? The vegan brunch at Market at EDITION is the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi. It’s so tasty we think it might even convert some of the city’s most carnivorous diners (for one afternoon, at least).

Market at EDITION has long been one of Abu Dhabi’s favourite spots for breakfast. Natural light, a white marble counter, potted plants and an open concept combine to create an environment that screams (or rather, whispers) health and wholesomeness. Pull up a seat inside or sit on the terrace for views of Al Bateen while you enjoy your brunch.

The vegan brunch at Market at EDITION is happening every Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. It’s a two hour experience that gets you three courses of vegan food and unlimited soft drinks for Dhs155 or mixed drinks, grape and house drinks for Dhs255.

The menu is created by celebrity chef, Tom Aikens, so expectations are sky-high when it comes to flavour. The soft drinks are thoughtfully prepared, healthy and refreshing. After your first sip, whet your appetite on the pita bread with pumpkin hummus and babaganoush, which arrives swiftly and is dangerously moreish, considering what’s to come.

If you’re worried that a vegan brunch will leave you hungry, your fears are instantly wiped away by the sharing starters. Your table will soon be piled with cauliflower tabbouleh; lentil chickpea and kidney beans salad; and king kale salad with shitake, roast broccoli and soy and ginger dressing. Each dish hits the spot with a whole range of flavours. (Anyone who claims that eating salad is boring just needs the first bite of the fresh and tangy king kale salad).

Up next, you’ll get your choice of main course. The crushed avocado comes with a generous spread of avocado on thick grilled rye bread with flax, sesame and cashew nuts on top. You can also go for the chia base pizza, which is a crunchy take on pizza crust that hits the spot. Other mains include charred aubergine steak and roasted cauliflower.

The brunch finishes with dessert, which consists of black rice pudding with passion fruit sorbet and a fruit plate. It’s a sweet note to end on, although it’s not the most captivating flavour of the afternoon.

This brunch at Market at EDITION is perfect for vegans, vegetarians, the health-conscious or veg-curious and especially anyone who thinks eating vegan is flavourless (you’re about to be proven so very wrong).

Dhs155 (soft), Dhs255 (mixed, house, grape). Sun, 1pm-5pm (2 hours).
