The Lion King musical adds five more dates for Abu Dhabi run

Great news for fans of The Lion King musical. Didn’t snag tickets? Following a huge demand for tickets, five extra shows have been added to the The Lion King musical’s debut run in Abu Dhabi, it has been announced today.

Five evening shows of The Lion King musical have now been added to the musical’s roster, taking place at 8pm on November 22, 23 and 30, as well as December 6 and 7.

The world-famous musical adaption of the animated Disney favourite will be taking over Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena from November 18 through to December 18.

The new dates have been announced thanks to a huge surge in ticket sales, exceeding demand expectations.

“With The Lion King coming to the region for the first time, we expected a positive reaction when tickets went on sale, but the overall response has far exceeded our initial expectations,” said Nicholas Renna, managing director of Proactive Entertainment, the promoter for The Lion King musical in the Middle East.

“We’re delighted to be able to add these additional five performances and provide audience further opportunities to experience the magic of Disney’s landmark musical event.”

The Lion King musical will also see a huge line up of international cast heading to the UAE to play the iconic characters Rafiki, Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, and more.

Futhi Mhlongo, who has played the role of Rafiki for 15 years across the world, will be arriving in the UAE capital, alongside Dashaun Young (Simba), Amanda Kunene (Nala), Mthokozisi Emkay Khanyile (Mufasa) and Antony Lawrence, who plays iconic villain, Scar.

Get ready to sing all of your favourite The Lion King songs. Don’t miss out on belting Hukana Matata, Circle of Life and I Just Can’t Wait to be King, while enjoying the stunning costumes, imaginative stage production and talented cast members who are heading to the UAE from all parts of the globe.

The show’s four-week run in November will mark the first ever time the production has been performed in the UAE. The Lion King musical has already toured around the world, with successful tours to London, New York, Australia and Tokyo.

Week day tickets start from Dhs200 (bronze), Dhs260 (silver and people of determination), Dhs300 (gold), Dhs450 (diamond), Dhs550 (platinum), Dhs775 (VIP) and Dhs1300 (royal). Weekend tickets start from Dhs250 (bronze), Dhs310 (silver and people of determination), Dhs375 (gold), Dhs550 (diamond), Dhs700 (platinum), Dhs950 (VIP) and Dhs1500 (royal).

The Lion King musical isn’t the only incredible Disney performing heading to Abu Dhabi this month. Disney On Ice will also be skating its way over the UAE capital, with performances taking place from October 12 through to October 16.
