Cinemas reopen in Abu Dhabi at 30 percent capacity

The silver screens are back

Fans of the silver screen will once again be able to catch a flick after cinemas were given the green light to reopen in Abu Dhabi.

Pictures houses are now permitted to operate at 30 percent capacity, Abu Dhabi’s Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has announced.

A tweet via the Abu Dhabi Media Office handle said reopenings were subject to all precautionary measures including the wearing of masks, the maintaining physical distance, and regular sanitising.

VOX Cinemas was among the first to confirm they would be welcoming back blockbuster buffs.

A tweet said: “We’ve reopened our doors in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in compliance with government guidelines. We can’t wait to welcome you back and start creating great moments together again. See you soon.”

Cinemas across the emirate closed their doors on February 5 as a precautionary measure to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the UAE.
