Your face will soon be the key to unlocking Yas Island’s trove of treasures.
No, we’re not talking about flashing a winning smile or fluttering eyelashes in the direction of ticket-takers.
We’re talking about Star Trek levels of facial recognition technology that will help make the entire destination contactless.
Yas Theme Parks, the places that give us plenty of feel-good thrills and spills, are leading the way, and are among the first to implement a new bit of kit called FacePass.
So what does that mean for amusement park patrons? Well, less time stood in lines for sure, with a streamlined guest experience getting us to the coasters quicker.
It also means tighter control on the spread of germs, which we’ve all become accustomed to over the past 12 months.
It’s set to be rolled out at access points for residential and communal areas to retail and F&B destinations – a full sweep of Yas Island.
Speaking to Time Out’s stablemate publication Arabian Business, Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said: “We are thrilled to be pioneering the adoption of the FacePass technology within the regional leisure and entertainment industry, and delivering on our promise of creating a world-class wall-less destination using the latest technology.
“Yas theme parks will be the first in the region to implement complete contactless access and payment solutions.
“This cutting-edge functionality is in line with our digital transformation strategy, and a testament to achieving our vision of positioning Yas Island as a top global destination for entertainment, leisure and business.”
