Pakistan Super League to take place in Abu Dhabi

Fours, sixes and wickets galore in Abu Dhabi

Don’t like cricket but love it?

Then willow and cork fans get ready to be bowled over as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is coming to Abu Dhabi.

The tournament, which had been postponed in March due to a surge in Covid-19 cases in Pakistani city Karachi, will see the remaining 20 games be played in the UAE’s capital at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.

It was expected that games would be split between Dubai and the capital with the aforementioned city’s history of hosting Pakistan internationals, however, after securing travel and quarantine exemptions from the Abu Dhabi Government, it was decided to stage all games in the capital.

The six-team competition, which is in its sixth season, will commence on Saturday June 5, however it’s looking like fans will not be allowed attend live games.

Currently the matches are being broadcast in the UAE via Pakistan TV company, Tapmad TV, which charges $4.99 (Dhs18.33) to subscribe to the tournament.

It is not the first cricket tournament from abroad that the UAE has played host to either with the Indian Premier League making its home for the 2020 edition in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The final saw the Mumbai Indians defeated the Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
