Abu Dhabi residents given clarification of home quarantine rules

Vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals have different time periods

Abu Dhabi authorities have given clarification of home quarantine rules in the emirate.

A different set of measures need to be followed depending on whether or not you’ve been vaccinated.

Should you come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, have stated that vaccinated individuals will be required to quarantine for five days.

A PCR test must be taken on day four of the quarantine and should a negative result be produced, the mandatory wristband tracker may be removed on day five.

However, should a non-vaccinated person have close contact with a positive case, the home quarantine period is doubled to 10 days.

A PCR test then must be conducted on day eight and should it produce a negative result, the wristband tracker will be removed on day ten.

According to Abu Dhabi authorities an individual is considered fully vaccinated 28 days after their second dose.

Those who have received their two jabs but are within the 28 days of receiving their second jab will have to quarantine for 10 days should they come in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case.

Anyone who has registered for home quarantine can receive a free walk-in PCR test and wristband removal at Mina Zayed Centre in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Convention Centre and Al Dhafra Hospital test centres.

The news follows on from the announcement that vaccinated travellers are expected to be able to skip quarantine from July 1.

Currently, vaccinated tourists arriving from green list approved countries must isolate until they receive a negative PCR test result.

Those arriving from countries not on the green list must quarantine for 10 days while also conducting PCR tests at the airport, on day six and day 12.
