Contact tracing assistant system launched in Abu Dhabi

New measures for positive COVID-19 cases

A Contact Tracing Assistant System, which will conduct a virtual chat with COVID-19-positive patients to help minimise the spread of the virus, has been launched in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) and the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) have confirmed that those who receive a positive test result will be sent an SMS link and be required to participate in a virtual chat with authorities.

Once users have verified their Emirates ID and started the process, they will need to answer questions that will help speed up contact tracing processes.

The system will expand the scope of COVID-19 investigations to become more comprehensive, help predict and prevent community transmission, and communicate with positive cases as soon as possible.

The system will gather information such as whether the positive case is returning from abroad, has been in a workplace environment, and who the person has come into contact with in the last 48 hours.

It will also ask for the contact information of possible contacts to get in touch with them as soon as possible. The information obtained by the system is confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the investigation team.

After you’ve entered your data, the centre’s team will review it and make any necessary calls to complete missing or unclear information. The system is only available in Arabic and English.

Health officials in Abu Dhabi have also approved the use of EDE facial scanners to detect possible COVID-19 cases.

The scanners are being installed at selected locations across Abu Dhabi including all ports of entry to the emirate. If you are identified as a potential positive case, you will not be allowed to enter and will need to do a PCR test within 24 hours.
