Changes to health and safety protocols for arrivals in Abu Dhabi

Updates to home quarantine guidelines, too

Health and safety protocols for anyone touching down in Abu Dhabi have been adjusted, authorities have confirmed.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has revealed raft of revised measures for anyone flying into the capital, with rules taking immediate effect.

From now on, any vaccinated traveller arriving from a green list destination must take a PCR test on arrival, but does not need to quarantine. A second PCR test will need to be completed on day six.

Anyone not arriving from a green list country must take a PCR test on arrival, quarantine for seven days and take a PCR test on day six.

The protocol applies to vaccinated UAE citizens and residents who received their second dose at least 28 days earlier, and this needs to be documented via the Alhosn app.

Unvaccinated citizens and residents arriving in Abu Dhabi from green list destinations don’t need to quarantine, but will need to take a PCR test on arrival, as well as follow up tests on days six and 12.

When arriving from non-green list destinations, they must take a PCR test on arrival, quarantine for 12 days and take another swab on day 11.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, has also updated home quarantine guidelines for those who come into contact with a positive case.

Vaccinated close contacts must quarantine for seven days and take a PCR test on day six. If the test result is negative, they can remove the mandatory wristband on day seven.

Those who are not vaccinated must quarantine for 12 days and take a PCR test on the 11th day. If the test result is negative, they can remove the wristband on day 12.

Anyone registered as home quarantining can conduct a free walk-in PCR test and have their wristband removed at COVID-19 Prime Assessment Centres at Zayed Port, Mafraq Hospital and ADNEC (Abu Dhabi City), Al Ain Convention Center, Al Khubiaisi, and Madinat Zayed in Al Dhafra, as well as all SEHA hospitals in Al Dhafra.
