The stylish Italian is packed out when we arrive for an early dinner on a Friday evening.
There’s a mix of families, couples and groups of friends dining around us, proving that the menu, which contains everything from Italian staples to steaks and seafood grills, offers something to suit all tastes.
We’ve got a real weakness for fresh bread dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and the table bread here is so superb it’s a real task to stop ourselves demolishing it all.
But once our food arrives we’re immediately glad we were so strict with ourselves – it’s all tremendous and we don’t want to leave a single bite.
We start with the arancini balls, which come coated in plenty of juicy tomato sauce, and are filled with naughty mozzarella cheese, peas, mushrooms and rice. They’re quite heavy so we’re thankful the portion isn’t too huge, and the combination of flavours is delightful.
Meanwhile the vegetarian lasagne offers a lighter version of the much-loved classic, and it’s filled with colourful butternut squash, spinach and broccoli. However, the star of the show is the pizza. An authentic crispy base is topped with speciality meat, sweet tomatoes, fresh rocket and plenty of cheese; it’s incredibly moreish and, just like the other dishes, the perfect weekend treat.
