Over the past year, Biella has really turned itself around, from a sloppy, poorly managed eatery to a very enjoyable Italian restaurant. The spacious, setting in Abu Dhabi Mall looks out onto a nearby hotel’s beach club, and the bright blue décor manages to be chic and family-friendly at the same time. You’ll find a very standard Italian menu here, from soup to pasta to pizza, and a few attempts at more sophisticated, classic Italian main courses. The food is much better (if also a little more expensive) than you’d expect from a restaurant in a mall, with fresh ingredients and careful presentation, and the waitresses are absolutely charming. On the downside, you won’t forget that you’re eating in a chain restaurant, but at Biella doesn’t try too hard to fake authenticity and is an unpretentious place to order a decent Italian meal.
