Vivel Patisserie is a quaint little sweet store, serving up a vast range of imaginative teas. Bold paintings on the walls, trinket-lined shelves and comfy sofas make it a pleasant place to sit, which is probably the only reason they decided to start serving food at all. The menu is an afterthought, comprising five sandwiches, a couple of salads and three breakfast choices. And that’s pretty much it. The food is sadly unsuccessful – four slices of bread wrapped around a fried egg and a slice of processed meat and cheese does not a meal make. But ignore their shambles of a food menu, and instead take the time to enjoy their rich, crumbly Arabic biscuits, sweet dates, heavenly pralines and strong coffee. Or sample the extensive list of teas – you’ll find everything from fruity blends to perfumed green teas, with optimum infusion times and temperatures to make sure your brew is tip-top.
