Caravan is a perennially popular restaurant with plenty going for it. The great downtown location and low prices make it a big hit with families in particular, so at evenings and weekends you’ll frequently find the place fit to burst with big groups, creating a noisy, upbeat atmosphere. Downstairs, sister restaurant Pondersosa is often hired out for kid’s parties, adding to the family-friendly feel. The food itself is just so-so at Caravan – the kitchen bravely attempts Indian, Chinese and Arabic food, and while it’s all satisfying enough, most dishes are on the bland side giving you the impression they’ve been produced en mass, in a hurry. Still, it’s hard to complain much when you can still treat the whole family to dinner without burning a hole in your pocket, and the staff will make sure your kids can run about safely while you enjoy your meal.
