Thirty 1st

Very average food, only worth ordering snacks if you’re already at the bar

By all means, if you’re in the right part of town visit Thirty 1st for well-priced and well-mixed drinks, a lively atmosphere, to watch the sport, or chill out on the funky terrace. But don’t visit for the food. The menu is a limited, haphazard collection of sandwiches, deep fried platters and a few main courses – fish, burgers and salads. Preparation is on the oily, sloppy side and the dishes themselves are flat and uninspiring. Since the Holiday Inn’s other eateries are infinitely better quality, eating at Thirty 1st seems like a wasted opportunity. That said, nothing on the menu is particularly expensive, it’s all served promptly, and if you just want to fill a hole while you spend time in the bar, you could certainly do worse. Thirty 1st also has some of the friendliest bar staff in the city so if you stick to ordering the bar snack basics and aren’t feeling fussy you could spend a happy evening here.
