Chapters Café

Comfortable café with a wide mix of meals

Dark woods, blue and red walls and heavy leather seating give Chapters Café the feel of a British library, circa 1950. Which is why the large screen TV showing a constant stream of world news feels so out of place. This mishmash of styles becomes more apparent when you open the menu and discover even more oddities. The usual sandwiches and salads share space with pizza, pasta, spring rolls, stir fries and even nasi goreng: it seems Chapters Cafe hasn’t quite found its niche yet.

However, that’s not to say there’s anything wrong with the food. While our usual experience of places that try to do more than one cuisine is a wide variety of poorly executed dishes, Chapters’ meals are not bad at all. Portions are oversized and a little unrefined, true, but they are also full of flavour and free of grease. And it seems it is popular with its customers, being surprisingly busy even on a weeknight. The food is fast and the service friendly, worth a stop for the indecisive diner.
