Lebanese Flower

Excellent mezze and hearty grills await at this gem in Al Dhafrah

You can tell Lebanese Flower has been around for a while.

It’s a dark, cavernous and slightly bewildering place. Regulars sit in gloomy corners, families dine behind partitions and the staff flit around, occasionally taking orders.

It’s strangely atmospheric but as you wait at your table, looking at gilded picture frames, Roman columns and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, you can be forgiven for wondering what to expect. Thankfully, the food suffers no such identity crisis.

This is Lebanese cuisine with a home-cooked quality. Perfect mezze dishes lead into satisfyingly hearty mains, all served with no fuss.

Lebanese Flower’s hummus and fattoush are excellent for a safe start. And if you’re looking for something a bit more exciting, don’t miss out on the chicken livers in pomegranate – a perfect combination of flavours.

For the seriously hungry, there can be only one choice: the mixed grill zahrat lebnan. With kebabs, shish taouk and arayes, it’s a feast and a half. The arayes in particular make it a worthwhile order; crispy beef-filled pittas shouldn’t taste this good.

Embrace the haphazard service and focus on the food – you won’t be disappointed.

The bottom line
A no-frills venue serving up excellent Lebanese cuisine.
