Firstly, you should know that this year there was some fierce competition for the Best Newcomer accolade at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards. Secondly, we should point out the two Highly Commended restaurants are in the same complex as this, our winner. This shows just how important The Hub has already become as, well, a hub of culinary excellence in the city.
So what gives Bu! the edge? We love its ambition. This is a venue with three distinct areas, a bar, restaurant and huge terrace. The scale of the project is impressive. That the team behind Bu! manages to run all three elements impeccably is even more remarkable.
We’ve returned to this restaurant (anonymously, of course) time and again this year and every time it’s been special.
The small plates (especially the fresh, interesting ceviches and tiraditos) are too good to share. The Brazilian pao de queijo (cheesy bread) is the best we’ve tasted in the city. The tacos are terrific. The meat from la parilla is just grill-iant (we’re not sorry) and the desserts are on another level.
As we head into 2017, we’re very happy to have Bu! around.
