Waterlemon

Restaurant review: A cute café with picturesque views in Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen

Waterlemon

Located on the picturesque Al Bateen waterfront promenade is Waterlemon (and yes, that’s lemon, not melon – no typo here).

The cute restaurant and café boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and minimalist décor and the diverse menu pretty much covers all bases from breakfast, sandwiches, salads, burgers, pasta, pizzas and an array of mains (including an entire page dedicated to Indian dishes) and desserts.

On our visit it’s brunch o’clock so we opt for the “egg bowl potato bun” (eggs served sunny side up in a potato bun with guacamole, beef bacon, grilled halloumi, lettuce and green onions) and the beef lasagne, which according to our smiley server are both best-selling dishes.

The hearty portions arrive in good time and we hungrily tuck in. The lasagne is rich and tasty but egg bowl potato bun surprisingly lacks any flavour and the eggs are rubbery, which is a shame.

We end the meal with the “cookie om nom” – a big gooey portion of warm cookie dough topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It’s super-indulgent and not one for someone counting calories, that’s for sure.

Overall, it’s a sweet spot for a reasonably priced bite to eat. If the weather permits, dine al fresco to enjoy the setting.
