Victor’s Bar & Restaurant

Good-value pub grub with an Irish-American slant

Good pub grub. It sounds simple, and it sometimes looks simple, but there are many times venues don’t get it right. And when you fancy fish and chips or a big burger, there are few bigger disappointments than soggy batter or dry, overcooked beef.

When Victor’s first opened a couple of years ago, we liked it as a venue, but the food didn’t quite hit the mark. Since then, the menu has gone through a couple of overhauls before settling on a more Irish-American theme.

The pub itself has gone from strength to strength in that time, becoming a regular haunt for many Abu Dhabians, popular for its great deals, events and relaxed atmosphere. And we’re pleased to announce that the food is also much, much better than before.

We start with a big platter of deep-fried dill pickles. Forgive us the hyperbole, but there can’t be a better bar snack. Crispy, tangy and with a fresh dip to cut through the pickle, a portion of these between two, over a pint, is just sublime. Believe us.

Main courses of fish and chips and a massive quesadilla are both excellent (the former, especially). The chips are superb, just like our mum used to make at home, and the fish is perfectly crisp, golden brown on the outside and pearly white inside. Faultless. There’s even a side of mushy peas (that we’d like more of).

With absolutely briliant service, keen prices and tasty, hearty food, you can’t really go wrong. Simple, isn’t it?
