Probably Abu Dhabi’s best pizza. What else do you really need to know?
A favourite for those craving a takeaway, but just as good enjoyed in the bricks-and-mortar place it calls home, Pizza Di Rocco greets guests with red brick walls, wooden tables with thatched backed chairs and stacks of pizza boxes on the counter.
Kick off with bruschetta, homemade meatballs or a plate of deliciously crispy breaded calamari. And just when you thought the opening credits couldn’t get any better, there’s no need to worry about ordering garlic bread – it’s delivered to the table compliments of the house.
For mains, there’s the option to get stuck into a lasagne or pasta dish, but what’s the point in going to a pizzeria if you aren’t going to go for slices covered in cheese, tomato and an assortment of tactically paired toppings?
With more than 30 pizzas on the menu, including 17 veggie and vegan options, the pollo picante and carnivora are simply must-samples.
All the pizzas here are thin-crusted, well bronzed and piled with oodles of toppings, not to mention substantial in size (two plates struggle to fit on the table) and superb.
Service is excellent, and while the vibe is distinctly missing a bit of music, the pizzas really are some of the best in the capital, and when one of Abu Dhabi’s greatest pies hits your palate, it truly will be amore.
