Silk Route Café is a decent and affordable option if you’re in the uptown area, whether you fancy a filling buffet or a quick coffee and cake. Comfy couches are strewn with colourful satin pillows, and the setting is bright and airy, with a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Choose from an à la carte menu of international dishes, or try one of the various themed buffets, including a regular Korean night. Although the buffet food isn’t the most refined in the city, it is reasonably priced, with a good-value brunch option. Staff are friendly and quick to top up drinks, salads are fresh and plentiful, and desserts sweet and moreish. However the hot food is somewhat lacking: the terrace barbecue appears to have been cooked to within an inch of its life, and the brunch-time addition of a singer feels a little awkward. Worth a visit if you have a big group of hungry friends and fancy a well-priced, unfussy deal.
