Mardi Gras

Fear not, budgeting fans of casual wear, Mardi Gras offers food and beverage on the cheap, and doesn’t care about your trainers

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010

Mardi Gras is definitely one of the cheaper bars in the capital. Food and drink tends to be on the bargain side and no one really cares how you dress. On the whole, it’s a pretty laidback place – even the karaoke on Tuesdays is pretty easygoing – and that is its main attraction. Naturally, the menu selection errs comfortably on the side of pub grub, with sandwiches, burgers and plenty of Italian and Indian offerings on the go. There is nothing to blow your socks off, it’s steady fare and hardly expertly prepared. There is something of the ‘factory made’ quality to it all.

But what Mardi Gras lacks in style it more than makes up for in quantity and the cost of the drinks are always going to be the main draw anyway. The atmosphere is good and thankfully it remains a pretty wholesome place in comparison to many of its cheaper rivals. ‘Come as you are’ appears to be the motto and while this isn’t exactly a happening nightspot, it could always become a guilty pleasure in which to grab a quick snack.
