Elements

Fairmont

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010

As international buffets go, Elements is vast. Almost everything is represented, from Goan fish curries to beef pie with roasted trimmings, and an open side room filled with enough chocolate to keep the kids buzzing for a lifetime. Unfortunately, it suffers from being what it is – even the most exquisitely prepared sushi rolls go dry when left uncovered for too long. The curries taste overly stewed, served with naan breads that have the consistency of prawn crackers, and the seafood selections lacks a certain freshness.

Only the desserts retain any of their dignity (the Fairmont seems to do chocolate very well – visit the Chocolate Gallery to see how they do it). Having said that, man can’t live on sweets alone. Admittedly, Elements was only a few weeks in operation at the time of going to press. Given time it may up its game – at the moment, however, only the amount of choice it offers wins any prizes; you might as well leave the food to the mercy of the elements.
